Board reviews water discoloration, WPDES phosphorus plan and approves sewer-pipe materials

President Joe Kniseley and utility committee members addressed continued resident complaints about discolored water on Pine Avenue and the village’s steps to troubleshoot the system. Kniseley described flushing and backwashing efforts and said the crew increased backwashing to once per week and lowered chlorine residual; he said the board will contact Rural Water if problems persist. "We isolated the water main to closest fire hydrant and flushed that hydrant, and it was like 'orange Kool-Aid'," an official reported, underscoring the severity of the discoloration concern.
