After three recent drownings, Monte Rio board to add life-jacket signage and free vest rack
Following drownings at Monte Rio Beach (July 13) and regional incidents, the board agreed to increase signage urging life-jacket use and install a free life-vest rack opposite the boat rental trailer. The move follows committee reports raising public-safety concerns.

Board Chair Steve Baxman reported three recent drownings in the region over a short span: a drowning at Monte Rio Beach on July 13, another at Martinelli Beach later that day, and a drowning at Lake Sonoma on July 15. The board said it would increase beach signage urging the use of life jackets and install a free life-vest rack on the side of the beach opposite the boat rental trailer.
