Commission declares four engineer trucks surplus, transfers 2010 Silverado to engineering

The engineer department asked the commission to declare four old trucks surplus and to transfer a different vehicle into its fleet.

Mister Rawls told commissioners the engineer department had four vehicles that were near the end of useful service and requested they be declared surplus for sale. He listed the vehicles as a 1997 Chevrolet 2500, a 2006 Ford F-250, a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 and a 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty and recommended posting them on govdeals. "I got 4 f 2 50 trucks, 2 Chevys, and 2 Fords," Rawls said, noting the oldest vehicles were roughly 20 years old.

Commissioners approved declaring the four trucks surplus by voice vote and directed staff to post them for sale. Separately, staff requested transferring a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado (originally purchased for solid-waste/health department use) to the engineer department at no cost; the commission approved the transfer.

Rawls said the engineer staff would extract remaining useful value from the vehicles as part of disposition and recommended standard auction listing practices.
