Committee approves five technical amendments to decentralized wastewater standards, forwards draft for study

The committee voted unanimously to accept five technical amendments to the proposed decentralized wastewater standards and agreed to forward the draft to the Bedford County Commission and the planning commission for study. Chair called for the motion and later announced, "It's a unanimous vote." The committee directed staff to prepare materials for the next steps and suggested study sessions for county commissioners.

Chris White, the planner leading the effort, summarized the committee's recommendations and said he would present the material to the county commission and the planning commission for study. White recommended converting the document into a separate technical manual that the subdivision regulations would reference to allow easier updates. "I'm gonna recommend that as of, like, on page 20, for the monitoring, 2 week intervals on the monitoring," White said while describing the monitoring recommendation. The committee accepted five amendments White presented and moved the draft forward for study and further action by the county commission.
