Sam Houston recognized as a Healthy Recognized School; extension agent outlines wellness programs

Lorace Hill Mead (S10), a county extension agent, briefed the board that Sam Houston received the Healthy Recognized School Campus Award from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension for the third consecutive year. Mead described three wellness initiatives that supported the recognition, including Walk Across Texas (a physical fitness program), a fourth-grade youth garden program called 'Learn, Grow, Eat, Grow,' and a teacher nutrition program called 'A Fresh Start to a Healthier You.' "This is their 3rd year to receive the Healthy Recognized School Campus Award from Texas A and M University," Mead said.
