Staff presented a package of housekeeping amendments to the Ocean Springs Historic Preservation Commission bylaws at the Aug. 13 meeting, saying the updates are intended to modernize language and align the bylaws with the Unified Development Code, city ordinances and applicable state law. The proposed edits would update the commission's stated purpose and authority and clarify that the commission is a recommending body while final approval for matters such as certificates of appropriateness rests with the Board of Aldermen.
