Council reviews code clarifications on chickens, food trucks, RV storage and enforcement tools
Mar 11, 2026
In the work session staff proposed clarifying standards for chickens (allow side-yard coops with screening, consider keeping a 10-foot setback), food-truck kiosks vs pods (kiosks allowed, pods not), RV/boat-storage paving requirements (customer areas must be paved), and stronger enforcement authority up to revoking land-use permits for repeated violations.
The full story
As part of the development-code workshop, staff proposed several local code clarifications: allowing chicken coops in side yards (with screening) but keeping a 10-foot setback from neighbors; adding size and housing standards for coops and run areas; permitting a single food-truck kiosk in some commercial-office zones while continuing to bar multi-truck pods (three or more) without site review; clarifying when RV or boat storage areas must be paved (customer-facing areas to be paved unless the engineer approves a waiver); and adding municipal language that could allow revoking land-use approvals for repeated, significant code violations.
