Council approved a 10-year lease with Hawaii Islands EV LLC to replace county shared-use electric vehicles and adopted an amendment directing a workforce development report to identify resources needed for EV maintenance within 18 months.

The Hawaii County Council adopted Resolution 562 authorizing the mayor to enter a 10-year lease with Hawaii Islands EV LLC to replace the county’s shared-use electric vehicle fleet (seven new vehicles at approximately $7,200 each). Council member Kirkwitz introduced an amendment requiring a workforce-development opportunity report, to be prepared with the county’s Department of Research and Development and presented to the council no later than 18 months after contract execution.
