Nevada Fire Chief Chavez Wilson told the City Council on April 1 that the City of Melissa is leaving the Collin County EMS coalition effective October 2025, a change he said will reduce county ambulance transports and increase operating costs for remaining participants. "As of October 2025, Melissa will be officially out," Chief Wilson said. He reported that Melissa's departure represents about 1,100 transports and roughly $650,000 in monthly revenue for the county ambulance contractor, and said Nevada's share of coverage costs could rise "to $23,220 from our $10,000."
