County backs handbook edits, adds AI guidance after Iowa law changes

"We've got a handful of changes. He said the AI guidance is intended to remind employees not to input confidential or protected information and to use AI ethically.

Board members asked for minor clarifications and signaled support. One supervisor raised concerns about AI accuracy and the need to avoid entering HIPAA-protected details into third-party tools. The board voted to approve the updated handbook language for the next step of review and asked staff to finalize the draft with the agreed clarifications.

Supervisors did not adopt a formal publication date at the meeting; they directed staff to circulate a cleaned final copy reflecting the minor edits discussed.
