Council approves staffing changes, dissolves Parking Authority and adjusts codes-enforcement role

Kittanning Borough Council approved a set of administrative and personnel actions at its May 5 meeting, including a resolution adopting the Codes Enforcement Officer job description and changing the position from part time to full time with benefits retroactive to May 1, 2025.

The change was approved by motion (moved by Jerry Shuster; seconded by William Baum) with no recorded opposition. The council also voted to dissolve the Kittanning Borough Parking Authority and approved hires for Howard Camp and Ryan Jones to the Kittanning Police pending completion of all testing requirements.

Per the public record, former full-time officer Jason Hufhand resigned from his full-time position and offered to work part time if the council approved; the council voted to allow him to work part-time as needed. Council also approved a resolution recognizing Administrator Betsy Hooks as an Ameriprise contact for the borough and asked that thank-you letters be sent to Todd Stitt and Ricky Mechling in recognition of their years of borough service.

The meeting minutes did not provide full job descriptions or benefit-cost estimates in the public segment; the council directed the borough administrator to execute the approved resolutions and follow up on staffing paperwork.
