Lapeer County validates updated emergency operations plan required for state funding

The county's emergency management director presented the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to the board and asked the chairman to sign and forward the document to cooperating agencies. Staff said the plan is essentially a validated template of the prior plan and is required for eligibility for some state funding streams. "That document is a document that's required in order for us to, 1, be eligible for state funding," the director said.

Commissioners asked whether the plan had substantive changes from the prior iteration and were told the plan is largely unchanged from the last approved version (the last plan had been approved in 2019 and extended through recent changes). The board moved to approve the current plan and authorized the chair to sign, with staff noting some agencies would review and sign later as appropriate.
