The mayor's office and human-resources staff presented a proposed ordinance to codify paid parental leave that the county adopted administratively in 2020. Aziza Taylor from the mayor's office described the effort as an affirmation of an existing policy that supports workforce stability and family well-being: "Codifying paid parental leave is not about revisiting a decision. It is about affirming it," she said.
