Residents Raise Safety, Lighting and Service Concerns; Council to Follow Up

Several residents used the public-comment portion of the meeting to press the Council on local service and safety matters. John Farwell requested that the budget and financial statements be made available at each meeting and that the Town mail out an index to residents; Mark Courtney urged the Council to review contract deadlines and consider liquidated damages for the pumping station contractor. Robert Richardi asked when remaining Lake Tahoe streetlights would be installed and when final paving would occur. Ginger Marshall said electric bikes are speeding in Lakeside and that police no longer patrol there; Commissioner Daniel Deakins said he would speak with the Sheriff’s Department and contact the HOA.

Other commenters offered services or volunteer help: Earl Demsey of 1st State Inspection Agency offered same-day inspections if requested by 9 a.m., and Greg Wilston, a certified naturalist, volunteered to replant vacant spots at Veteran’s Park with native plants at wholesale cost. Council members noted the matters and assigned follow-up where appropriate; the minutes record these public comments but do not include firm completion dates for the work asked about.
