Multiple residents urged the council to adopt a binding municipal ordinance to restrict local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and to require transparency about any ICE requests. Cynthia Knox, speaking during the agenda comment period, urged clearer accountability mechanisms and wrote that "an ordinance is a much better practice than a resolution" because it is binding and enforceable and survives administrative changes.
