Ricardo, deputy parks and recreation director, told the council the city offers multiple youth programs — Leaders in Training (an eight-week summer internship program), a teen camp, and an annual youth government day — and that the parks and recreation commission authorizes two youth ex officio, nonvoting seats that are currently vacant. "The position currently both positions currently remain, vacant," Ricardo said, describing opportunities to expand civic engagement.
