Representative seeks variance for detached garage in East Troy

A representative identified as James told the county board he was speaking on behalf of James and Mary Haraldson and asked for a 29-foot variance from the 54.9-foot street-yard setback so the owners can build a 1,650-square-foot detached garage at N9649 Hilltop Drive in East Troy. “We are seeking 29 foot variance on the North Side yard setback from the 54.9 setback to the 26.6 line to allow for the construction of the 1,650 square foot detached garage,” he said.

The representative said site topography, an irregular lot shape and dense trees make locating the garage outside the street yard impractical and that the proposed structure would meet other zoning requirements. Staff reported the town of Troy plan commission voted 5–0 to recommend approval and the town board later passed a motion to approve the variance. No members of the public spoke in favor or in opposition at the county hearing, and staff said there was no further correspondence.

The board closed the Haraldson hearing; no final county decision is recorded in the transcript.
