Bilingual/ESL update: reclassifications, program plans and strong summer enrichment attendance

Ms. Cisneros presented the annual bilingual and ESL program report at the board meeting, reporting 485 students coded bilingual, 819 coded ESL and a total of 1,332 students tested during the prior year. She said overall coding dipped by roughly 189 students but explained 69 of those exited due to reclassification after strong TELPAS and STAR results, and that incomplete pre-K coding accounts for some of the remaining difference.
