Board approves rezoning for B & J Nelson Farms LLC

Ordinance 38, introduced by the Planning, Development and Extension Education Committee, proposed rezoning land related to B & J Nelson Farms LLC (owner/agent Jane Burgle) from A‑1 Agricultural Preservation District to a mix including A‑2 General Agricultural District in the Town of Paris. Supervisor Brown said the town supported the rezoning and asked for board support; Supervisor Nord expressed concern that approving small-acre A‑2 rezonings could set a precedent for similar requests. Supervisor Robinson countered that the change mainly “squares off” an existing configuration near a house and noted this is not a new build. Supervisor Carroll related that the owner attended committee and said the rezoning would allow an outbuilding on an existing parcel.
