Green Mountain Power outlines undergrounding project for Londonderry circuit

Green Mountain Power presented plans to harden a poorly performing three-mile circuit serving Londonderry by placing most of the mainline underground; the utility said the work aims to cut outages, would replace small culverts in-kind, and could finish in this construct by August.

A Green Mountain Power presenter (S7) told the board that Londonderry sits on “one of those worst performing circuits” and described a project to harden and largely underground roughly a three-mile section to reduce outages. The presenter said the utility expects about 95% of the main line in the targeted section to be built underground, with isolated overhead spans where clearance requires it.
