The Knoxville Knox County Planning Commission recommended approval on Aug. 13 of Vulcan's request to expand quarry operations east of Graybill Road, attaching the staff's recommended conditions plus a newly added limit on blasting frequency. The motion, carried by commissioners after extended public testimony, sends a recommendation to the County Commission as required for mining uses on review.
