Auditor says 2024–25 audit delayed, may affect property tax levy

Seidel Schroeder representative Heather Delso told the council that the city's 2024–2025 audit has been delayed by difficulties obtaining information and staff turnover.

"The audit was initiated January 2026, there trouble obtaining information, getting a response, and challenges with personnel changes, but with the current stability matters are being resolved and anticipating the audit may be concluded by the end August," Delso said. She also noted the audit should have been completed by March 2026 and cautioned the delay "may have repercussions regarding our property tax levy."

Council took no formal action to accept the audit report at the July 27 meeting. Staff indicated communication with the auditors had been happening regularly since Interim City Administrator Shanntel Williams returned to her duties; the auditors expect to finish the engagement by the end of August if outstanding information is provided.
