Officials discuss soil-testing results and Brownfields clearance that could affect renovation work

Staff reported that soil and lead testing previously performed for school and clerk-renovation projects returned clear results and that those test reports (from Applied Geology) were circulated to the group. Participants said the state will need confidence in testing and mitigation measures before granting environmental clearance tied to Brownfields funds.

Staff said using Brownfields or construction grant funding may require additional mitigation steps and that state environmental reviewers prefer documentation demonstrating testing and any necessary remedial steps. "I gave everybody copies of the test results from applied geology or whatever they're called," the Staff member said when discussing available documentation. The group agreed staff would check files and share relevant records before finalizing design or grant decisions that depend on environmental clearance.
