Madison County designates August 2026 as Child Support Awareness Month

The Madison County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt a proclamation designating August 2026 as Child Support Awareness Month after the county child support supervisor presented recent office results and staffing changes.

The proclamation, read by the board chair, cites the role of Ohio's child support program in providing financial and emotional support to families and names Madison County in conjunction with the State of Ohio. The board called for a roll call vote after the proclamation was read; three affirmative responses were recorded and the measure passed. "We applaud parents who are committed to the success of their children," the chair read as part of the proclamation.

In remarks to the board, the newly appointed Madison County child support supervisor described the office's recent activity and staff changes, and said the office seeks to reframe child support as a resource to help families stay connected. The supervisor told the board the office has collected $2,397,994.42 through its program, established 55 new child support orders this past year and currently has 986 children active in the child support program. The board thanked staff and invited a photo following the vote.

The proclamation does not itself change policy but formally recognizes the county's child support work and the board scheduled no additional action on the item at the meeting.
