Elementary principal outlines summer programs, Safe Routes sidewalk and new math curriculum

Cassie Akerson, the district’s elementary principal, told the board the elementary saw “a busy summer” of community-education classes, early-childhood family education and an extended school‑year program for some students. She said custodial and technology staff prepared classrooms and that the district finalized remaining elementary hires ahead of staff orientation.
