Drainage projects moving ahead; four sites under construction with completion expected by end of July

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported that all four drainage-improvement sites are under construction: sites have been cleared, silt fences installed, fill staged at Turnberry, and pipes are being placed. He said Palmetto Dunes is expected to be completed by the end of the week and that sod installation in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes is most likely the week of July 2; pipe installation in Oak Run is scheduled for the week of June 29.

Krebs said a total of twelve affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need removal and replacement (most are slash pines; two are red maples) and that six cabbage palms must be removed and replanted in Oak Run. He noted Clarke Construction is working on site and that staff will keep a log of additional costs, including Passarella’s pre‑construction environmental review required by the South Florida Water Management District and an accidental hit to an A/C coolant line that must be funded from contingency.
