SUNY Sullivan highlights enrollment gains and growth of Direct Support Professional credential program

SUNY Sullivan President David told the committee the college's headcount is up by more than 40 students this term, with an increase in part‑time enrollment as the institution continues budget and staffing reorganizations. He said trustees met at a retreat, the college named Dr. Bob Dufour to its board, and staff will brief legislators on budget details at a later meeting.

Mary Anne Wood, director of the Direct Support Professional Microcredential program at SUNY Sullivan, described the DSPMC as a three‑tier, grant‑funded credential that recognizes DSP skills and opens education and employment pathways. "The program is actually, was actually initiated by the National Alliance for, National Association for Direct Support Professionals," Wood said, and the program provides 24 free college credits that are stackable toward a Human Services associate degree and a $750 stipend for each tier completed. Wood said DSP1 is offered in hybrid format while DSP2 and DSP3 are offered online to accommodate working students.
