County to test 24/7 managed detection service; AI trial on hold pending security briefings

IT staff told the court they are pursuing two six‑month evaluations: a managed detection and response (MDR) trial to provide 24/7 monitoring of the county's file‑monitoring tool, and a proposed six‑month pilot of Anthropic's Claude AI for IT‑only use. Jess Greenfeld, IT security officer (Speaker 11), said the MDR trial would add persistent monitoring for alerts the county already generates and estimated an eventual annual cost of about $50,000 if adopted. "This is just a managed solution that will look at our alerts and be able to do threat detection on our current system 24 by 7 for the next 6 months," he said.
