Commission adopts multiple zoning and land‑use code changes including mining rezones and text amendments

The Box Elder County Commission approved a slate of land‑use ordinances following staff presentations and planning commission recommendations. Scott Lyons reviewed each item: Ordinance 662 rezoned two parcels in Hansel Valley (1,240.5 acres total) from unzoned to MGEX for mining and gravel extraction; the planning commission held a public hearing and found public comments in support before forwarding approval. Lyons also presented Ordinance 664, a multi‑section text amendment to correct numbering, align county code with state code and clarify rules such as prohibiting 'protection strips' and limiting site work before preconstruction meetings.
