Construction update: Navarro ISD athletic complex, new elementary and campus refresh projects moving forward

AG/CM Project Manager Melisa Nu'u updated the board on June 15 on the district's 2021 and 2024 bond construction work, reporting visible progress at multiple sites.

At the athletic complex, visitor grandstands are under construction, track surfacing is nearing completion, tennis courts are roughly halfway through coating and coloring, the new scoreboard structure is installed and visible from the roadway, parking areas are under construction as weather permits, and interior work at the fieldhouse (ceiling installation and painting) is advancing. The visitor amenities building is nearing completion with furniture scheduled for delivery in early August.

At the new elementary site, crews completed the final foundation pour for the gym area, vertical construction has begun with steel erection under way, and structural masonry walls are being installed in the kitchen. Roadwork expansion is complete; sidewalks and drainage remain in progress.

The junior high refresh includes a chiller and controls upgrade with more than half of the building's control systems already replaced, plus corridor graphics, painting and ceiling installation. During annex demolition for the elementary refresh, older infrastructure such as outdated wiring above ceilings was discovered; the project team is coordinating with contractors and architects to address those conditions and to schedule most work for summer to reduce disruption to students and staff.

Project teams are holding weekly coordination meetings with architects to manage unforeseen conditions and keep projects on schedule.
