Board hears child fatality review changes, 2024 summary

Mary Lou told the board the county has combined the child fatality review team with the community child protection team, a change that took effect in mid-2025 and altered which deaths are reviewed going forward. She said the new, state-driven process will produce different, more aggregate reports next year and the county has begun budgeting modest prevention funds for issues such as house-fire responses. "As of January of this year, we will be combined and we will see that," Mary Lou said, explaining future reports will reflect the merged teams.
