Committee weighs DEP rules as artificial-turf rules move into town code
The town manager said recent state and DEP rules on synthetic turf are now reflected in the draft Chapter 4 changes and warned that front-yard installations are possible because the first 10 feet of front yard is public right-of-way.

The committee discussed how recent state law and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) rules affect local regulation of synthetic (artificial) turf. Town manager Heidi Siegel explained staff incorporated DEP rules into the draft code language rather than attempting to reproduce every technical requirement in the town ordinance.
