Pendleton School District reported a 4-year cohort graduation rate of 89.7% for 2024–25, an increase of six percentage points from the prior year and 6.7 points higher than Oregon’s state average.
“Mr. Yoshioka summarized the 2024-25 school year 4-Year Cohort Graduation Data of 89.7%,” said the board report. The district credited progress to a combination of initiatives—9th Grade Focus, career and technical education courses, targeted support for students with disabilities (which now matches the district-wide average), strategic dropout prevention and integrated credit-recovery systems. Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Matt Yoshioka presented the data and was available for questions.
Superintendent Michelle Jensen also outlined lessons learned from a student walk-out, emphasizing improved communication, a renewed focus on supervision versus prevention, and early student engagement strategies through the SWIFT framework; two ODE staff members visited each building to provide feedback.
