Assembly approves first reading to create Thomas Bay Service Area
Ordinance 2026‑17 passed its first reading to establish the Thomas Bay Service Area within Petersburg Borough, defining boundaries (ASLS 81‑235) and authorizing services such as fire, EMS, police, roads and parks. The ordinance passed unanimously on first reading and will return for later readings.

On July 20 the Petersburg Borough Assembly approved Ordinance 2026‑17 on first reading to create the Thomas Bay Service Area, which would include all property within ASLS 81‑235 (excluding the federally owned parcel) and authorize services including fire and EMS, police, road construction and maintenance, and parks and recreation. The ordinance was advanced by unanimous roll call vote.
