Seniors' nonprofit urges temporary sewer solution as Harrison system nears capacity

Serve Our Seniors and a homeowner asked Madison County to pursue temporary holding-tank or other solutions after the Harrison sewer district denied a hookup for an accessory dwelling; Great West engineers said the lagoon system averages roughly 32,000 gallons/day vs. a 25,000-gallon design and outlined design and construction timing for expansion.

Representatives from the nonprofit Serve Our Seniors (SOS) and a homeowner told commissioners the county should find a legal, temporary wastewater solution for an elderly household denied a sewer hookup because Harrison Sewer District is at capacity. "She’s lived there without basic sanitary, wastewater service," said Cutler Edmonson, president and founder of SOS, describing an urgent need for a temporary accommodation for the elderly homeowner and two senior caretakers.
