Board approves District of Innovation plan changes to class-size approvals and behavior coordinator exemption

Trustees voted 6–0 to adopt amendments removing the Campus Behavior Coordinator exemption and allowing local Board approval for elementary class sizes above 22:1 without TEA waivers; the District-Level Committee approved the changes March 3, 2026.

The Chapel Hill ISD Board unanimously approved proposed amendments to its District of Innovation (DOI) Plan on April 20. Assistant Superintendent Matt Strode told the Board the District‑Level Committee had approved the changes March 3, 2026, and the amendments reflect recent legislative changes and local operational needs. The motion, moved by Martin Ibarra and seconded by David Acker, passed 6–0 with one trustee absent.
