Planning commission seeks broader public input on 2025 comprehensive plan

The planning commission spent substantial time on the Comprehensive Plan 2025 update, with staff asking commissioners to capture ideas, goals and strategies for incorporation into the draft. Commissioners discussed outreach and agreed to use multiple mechanisms rather than repeating a single public meeting or social-media-only survey. Staff noted past social-media efforts yielded many low-value responses and recommended an electronic survey on the town website, supported by a utility-bill insert to drive residents to the online form. "You could put something in the water bill that would drive people to either the link on the website or a Google form where they could fill out electronically," the Committee member said. The commission asked staff to start incorporating returned comments into the CP25 update and to consider a second public information meeting if needed.
