City recognizes wastewater operator for rapid certification and service

At the start of the meeting, council and a visiting representative from the Pacific Northwest Clean Water subsection recognized a Myrtle Creek wastewater operator, 'David,' as Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator of the Year for 2026.

The presenter, who described himself as part of the regional operator section, praised David's quick certification progress and eagerness to learn both wastewater and water systems. "He's only been with the city of Myrtle Creek for a short while, couple years, and he's already gained his wastewater 2 certification, which is really unheard of unless you really apply yourself," the presenter said. Council and attendees congratulated David and encouraged the city to retain staff who demonstrate that level of dedication. The presenter said he had submitted David's nomination for future regional recognition.
