Complaint alleging unlicensed HVAC work moves forward after hearing

Jul 1, 2026

A complaint against Alex Roddy (A2 Home Improvement LLC) alleging HVAC work beyond his residential license and resulting property damage was reviewed; staff moved evidentiary material into the record and the board discussed the need to complete the investigation despite an apparent confidential settlement and a complainant's intent to withdraw.

The full story

Escambia County staff presented a complaint (case 260224COM) that A2 Home Improvement LLC performed HVAC duct replacement and related work beyond the scope of a residential contractor license and that the homeowner, Mark Burns, experienced deficient work and damage. Staff described the contract for $8,226, a deposit paid, and subsequent work that allegedly included improper duct connections and drywall damage. Burns engaged a certified ventilation specialist who found the installation deficient, and Roddy responded through counsel, noting a confidential settlement had been reached and citing a recently issued state-registered license number.
