Fire Chief Derek Tolman told the South Weber City Council that state law limits municipalities from adding or expanding fireworks restrictions after May 1 once a city’s annual fireworks restriction map is adopted. He said only the state legislature or the governor acting through an emergency declaration can impose additional restrictions beyond those maps.
