Wakefield approves $5,000 allocation for fireworks at WakeFest

Administrator Mogus presented two Premier Pyrotechnics program options: a 13-minute show for $5,000 and an 18–19-minute program for about $10,000; both prices exclude insurance. Bob Berry of EMC Insurance said he had been talking with Mogus and could provide a special-event policy. Megan Weaver, speaking from the audience, noted the Wakefield Party special event policy runs about $1,200 annually. Council voted unanimously to allocate $5,000 from the Electric Fund for a fireworks show on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, and Mogus noted that deposits would carry forward if the event is canceled due to drought or a fire ban.
