Camden County considers strict rules for data centers in unincorporated areas
Commissioners reviewed a draft ordinance that would require special-use approval for data centers, set minimum lot sizes and buffers, and prohibit siting in floodways and sensitive coastal areas. Staff will revise the draft and return it for further public input.

Camden County commissioners spent the work session on April 21 reviewing a proposed amendment to the Unified Development Code that would regulate data centers in unincorporated Camden County. Cassie, the staff presenter, said the draft would move data centers to special-use review in industrial restricted and industrial general districts and prohibit them in residential, agricultural and certain coastal and FEMA floodway zones to protect environmentally sensitive areas.
