Board gets timeline on drainage work; contingency to cover unexpected repairs

District Engineer Charlie Krebs told the River Ridge board on June 23 that all four drainage improvement sites are under construction and that crews have installed silt fences, staged fill and placed pipe. He said Palmetto Dunes is expected to be completed by the end of the week, sod installation in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes is anticipated the week of July 2, 2026, and pipe installation in Oak Run is scheduled for the week of June 29, 2026.

Krebs also described landscaping impacts: "A total of twelve affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need to be removed and replaced; most are slash pines, and two are red maple trees," and he said declining Royal Poinciana trees will be replaced. Staff reported crews are working evenings and Saturdays. The Board was told staff is maintaining a log of additional costs; Krebs noted that Passarella’s pre-construction environmental review was required by the South Florida Water Management District and will be tracked. Eric Long reported that a contractor struck an air conditioning coolant line during clearing, the owner was contacted and the line was repaired, and "the cost of repairs will need to come from Contingency." Mr. Krebs will provide the additional-costs log for the next agenda packet.
