Commissioners ask for details before backing multi-county SUD coordinator proposal

The board raised questions about representation by county, how coordinator time and budget would be divided across six counties, and whether Roscommon taxpayers would subsidize other counties.

A request asking Roscommon County to fund part of a multi-county substance-use-disorder (SUD) coordinator was discussed but not approved. Chair explained the request comes from the Northern Michigan Children's Assessment Center and noted SUD funds originate from county liquor-tax revenue. "For anybody that is not aware, the substance use disorder funds come strictly from our liquor tax funds," the chair said while introducing the item.
