CTE renovation nearly complete as Santa Rosa ISD reviews bond allocations

The Santa Rosa Independent School District board received a bond and construction update on March 24 highlighting progress on the CTE/Early College building renovation and the district's remaining bond balance.

"Project is about 95% complete," Project Manager Ernie Villarreal reported in the packet for the CTE renovation, noting that Trane rooftop units had been installed, the main distribution panel was in place, and AEP had connected permanent power on March 14, 2025. He also listed outstanding items that could affect closeout timing, including an AEP‑requested enclosure ($18,290.94) and a sanitary sewer replacement ($16,579.00). The packet lists a construction cost of $2,842,564.07 and shows the project at roughly 97% completion in narrative schedules.

CFO Marisa Cuevas presented the bond allocation report, which lists a Remaining Bond Balance of about $3,133,486.83 after allocations and expenditures through March 19, 2025. The packet breaks down building budgets, owner contingency and costs to date across projects such as Elma E. Barrera Elementary, the Hog Barn, De La Fuente locker/restroom work, and the CTE building.

District staff said a city final inspection was scheduled for March 27 and that the team was on track for a substantial completion milestone in mid‑April, subject to corrective items and final inspections. The board did not take separate vote on the CTE closeout in open session; the update was provided as part of superintendent reports.
