Pike County updates electrical inspector contract and adopts new fee schedule

Judge Jones told the court the state had notified the county it needed an updated order setting inspection fees and contract paperwork. Roy, who walked the court through the packet materials, said the work was twofold: update the paperwork and accept a fee schedule that includes permit, inspection and a new return-visit fee so inspectors are reimbursed for repeat trips.

"The fee is what the basically, what this is is most of this money actually goes to the inspector that goes out and has to certify... so if he had to return... he didn't get any kind of additional fee. We have put in the additional return fee," Roy said. The court discussed two documents in the packet, confirmed the correct revised schedule and approved the contract amendment and the fee schedule by roll call.

Court members said the changes align county practice with state requirements and will help ensure inspections for new homes and mobile sites are done by approved inspectors. The clerk recorded unanimous votes for both the contract update and the fee schedule.
