Council OKs $49,000 from General Fund for fire chief pickup after training gap
The council voted 6-1 to transfer $49,000 from the General Fund to buy a pickup for fire department administration so the chief retains transportation while recruits attend a 10-week academy; Council Member Lowe voted no.

Fire Chief Kal Dienst told the council that with new candidates attending the academy the department would be without a vehicle for several weeks, and that recruits are paid mileage when they return home on weekends. He described the purchase as an administrative pickup for the chief, leaving the older truck for station-to-station use: "The new truck would be for the Chief to utilize( administrative truck) and the older truck for running from station to station and around town."
