Staff seeks tighter stormwater rules, engineer certification after flooding

Emerald Isle staff presented a package of proposed stormwater code changes to the town's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) at the Sept. 19 committee meeting, saying the measures are intended to reduce local flooding and require higher technical oversight. Staff told the committee they will bring more detailed drafts at the October meeting and asked members to prioritize 'hot-spot' sites for field visits.
