Staff told the workshop it has received complaints from Main Street business owners about people riding bicycles and e-bikes on sidewalks and noted many of the city's ordinances are old or rescinded. "There is a state statute that actually states that a person must not ride a bicycle on the sidewalk within a business district unless permitted by local authorities," Staff member said, arguing the city could adopt a local ordinance to restrict sidewalk riding downtown.
