Native American speaker calls July 4 a "merciless reminder" in New Rochelle program

Ginny Rock Bailey, introduced as a descendant of the Lenni-Lenape and a New Rochelle resident and business owner, read an excerpt titled "Merciless Reminder on the July 4" from the Native American International Caucus. She said the July 4 "is not a celebration for all," recounting that the Declaration referred to indigenous peoples as "merciless Indian savages," that sovereignty and treaties were discarded, and that indigenous voices were excluded from founding debates.
